Is my MIDI device compatible with the iConnectivity USB-MIDI Host port?

USB Ports

Many iConnectivity interfaces (e.g. PlayAUDIO12, iConnectAUDIO4+iConnectMIDI4+mio10 and mio4) feature a USB-MIDI Host connector that enables users to plug MIDI equipment directly into the interface via USB without requiring the use of a computer's USB ports. Not only that, you can also attach a standard USB hub to the iConnectivity Host port and via the hub attach up to 10 USB-MIDI devices at the same time, which makes this a very useful feature in a large MIDI-based setup.

Note that the iConnectivity USB-MIDI Host port is designed so that it can operate as a MIDI interface even without having a computer connected. However that means it can only pass MIDI information - you cannot use it as a normal USB port, or pass audio data via it. It is purely a MIDI connection only.

As a consequence of this some controller devices that have extra functionality which requires a direct connection to a computer may not work fully or work at all via our USB-MIDI Host Port. This particularly applies to "smart" hybrid controller+software devices such as those from Native Instruments.

The following list is derived from in-house testing at iConnectivity plus reports from our users. As such it is not meant to be definitive and nothing listed here should be taken as a guarantee. However we are fairly confident that the devices listed as Compatible should operate well in our USB-MIDI environment. Devices listed as Partially Compatible will usually pass basic MIDI via our Host port, but may lack other specialised functions (such as lights flashing etc.) or exhibit slightly weird behaviour. Devices listed as Not Compatible will not work at all while connected to our USB-MIDI Host Port but will work fine as part of your system as long as they are directly connected to your computer.

Note that if your MIDI device is listed as not compatible with our USB-MIDI Host post it is usually impossible for us to make changes in our hardware or firmware to make it compatible, since the incompatibility lies in the way the device's original manufacturer has implemented their USB protocol. If the MIDI device is not 100% USB-MIDI class compliant there's unfortunately little we can do to make it work.

This list is a work in progress and will be updated as we and our users test more USB-MIDI devices. If your device is not listed but you know that it works, do let us know, we would be happy to share that information!
